Treasury Secretary Jack Lew will undergo surgery in New York on Tuesday to treat a benign enlarged prostate, the Treasury Department said Sunday night.
The surgery will be done on an outpatient basis, and Lew expects to remain at home in New York for the remainder of the week, Treasury spokeswoman Natalie Wyeth Earnest said.
“His physician expects that he will be able to return to his full schedule next week,” she said in a statement.
Lew was treated at a Mexico City hospital and released the same day last week for “a minor medical issue” while traveling on official business in Mexico.
