In 99% of cases, stars go on talk shows purely to plug a show, movie, book or other project.
Tyler Perry stopped by Chelsea Lately Thursday to flog his latest film, sure. But he had a more specific goal.
He told Chelsea Handler he wanted her “to invite all the white people to come see the movie,” The Single Moms Club. “That’s all I’m saying. That’s why I’m here.”
Handler dutifully turned to the camera: “OK, homies — my kinda homies — we all need to go out and support his movie. We’re appealing to white people!”
And, lest they needed further incentive, “there are white people (Amy Smart, Eddie Cibrian, Ryan Eggold) in the movie,” Perry reminded the audience.
