“Duck Dynasty” has been in the news a lot following Phil Robertson’s controversial anti-gay comments, but one of the youngest members of the dynasty is coming forward with a more positive message.
In an interview with Fox411, Sadie Robertson, the daughter of Willie and Korie Robertson, says the family joined the show for a very specific reason. “When we began ‘Duck Dynasty,’ we weren’t starting it for fame,” she said. “We started it to get the message of God out there.”
“I think people use fame as an excuse to lose their faith,” Robertson continued. “Faith is obviously my number one priority and I think you need to put God at the top of everything you do.”
Instead, Robertson stressed that “Duck Dynasty” provides viewers with a look at wholesome, Christian values. “We could have easily done a reality show like everyone else,” she said. “But it’s our faith that catches people’s eyes because, sadly, it’s not something we’re used to seeing [on TV] these days.”
