Aretha Franklin has no hard feelings about President Obama accidentally leaving out the first “e” in the title of one of her most famous recordings.
As you may know, the commander in chief made a gaffe last Thursday while praising the Queen of Soul before a White House concert, referring to a popular chant in Respect as “R-S-P-E-C-T.” In a statement released Monday, Franklin defended her esteemed fan.
“I’m sure the President had much on his agenda and was just a little tired,” she said. “However, spelling it and giving it is a huge difference. The President and I are mutual when it comes to R-E-S-P-E-C-T.”
