Faith Leaders Gather In Washington, D.C. to Discuss Religious Freedom

hcsp.jpgLeaders of all faiths gathered in Washington, D.C., Thursday, to draw attention to growing attacks against religious freedom, especially in Africa and the Middle East.

Open Doors USA helped organize the forum at the National Press Club. Carl Moeller, president and CEO of the human rights group, warned that thousands in these volatile regions have already been forced to flee Islamic terrorism.
“This is a reality for millions, as Pew did a very comprehensive survey across the world, 70 percent of the world’s population live in places where this sort of freedom is not explicitly protected,” Moeller said.
The 2012 World Watch List released in January listed North Korea, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and Iran as some of the worst religious persecutors.
