After viewing a documentary about bullying, the Obama administration has decided to endorse measures meant to protect LGBT students.
Bully has inspired the Obama administration to officially endorse the Safe Schools Improvement Act and the Student Non-Discrimination Act, two bills pending in Congress that address bullying. David Cortman of the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) says the latter would provide for lesbian, “gay,” bisexual and transgender students, and those perceived to be, explicit federal protections against discrimination and harassment in all public schools.
“Students of all shapes, sizes and types all face bullying,” Cortman notes. “The glaring question is why does this bill only protect students regarding bullying as it pertains to their sexual orientation?”
He does not think the president or his administration should be endorsing this selective legislation.
