The Broncos’ pursuit of QB Peyton Manning seemed near its apex Friday as the team worked him out at Duke University.
The other side of the equation if Denver lands a Mile High Manning: Whither Tim Tebow, the man who helped propel the Broncos to the AFC West title and a wild-card win last season … albeit in his unique fashion?
Indications are Tebow will be on his way out of town if Manning comes galloping in. Tebow has been publicly mum as he lets the courtship of the four-time MVP unfold.
But where would, should, could Tebow go if he and the Broncos end up parting ways? A few thoughts:
- Cleveland Browns:
Inaccurate Tebow is, theoretically, a horrific fit for a team that runs
a precision-based West Coast offense. But the Browns also don’t seem
overly committed to anyone under center at the moment, so he might at
least be worth a look.
- Jacksonville Jaguars: This is the popular homecoming choice for Tebow, a native of the region. The Jags moved up to draft Blaine Gabbert in 2011 and just signed Chad Henne. However neither player has provided stellar early returns nor will they fill up a stadium like the former Florida Gators hero.
- Miami Dolphins: Owner Stephen Ross
would also doubtless see buzz, dollar signs and no more empty seats by
bringing Tebow back to the Sunshine State. But this is also a place
where the scattershot quarterback seems ill-suited to the offense new HC
Joe Philbin helped employ in Green Bay.
