The Israeli Justice Ministry said it has reached a deal to free a Palestinian hunger striker in April.

The ministry said Tuesday that Khader Adnan, who has been on hunger strike for two months, has agreed to resume eating. He is to be freed on April 17.
Adnan launched his strike on Dec. 18 to protest Israel’s policy of “administrative detention,” in which it can hold suspected militants without charge for months at a time. Adnan also claimed to have been beaten and abused in Israeli captivity.
Adnan is a member of the Islamic Jihad militant group. It is not known whether he has participated in violent attacks on Israelis.
