A group of black pastors is protesting at the Southern Poverty Law Center in Alabama because they object to the Center’s designation of certain Christian organizations as “hate groups.”

Today’s protest is led by Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, whose organization is one of several that have been designated a hate group by the SPLC. One of the demonstrators is Dr. Patrick Wooden, senior pastor of Upper Room Church of God in Christ in Raleigh, North Carolina. The pastor spoke Tuesday with OneNewsNow.
“And we’re here as African-Americans, as black preachers,” he says. “I have ministers with me from Delaware, Washington, DC, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Elizabeth City, North Carolina.”
They have traveled to SPLC headquarters in Montgomery to make a point: do not condemn groups as “racist” and “bigoted” when they adhere to biblical principles.
