The day after UNESCO granted full member status to the yet-to-be-established Palestinian state, a new report released Tuesday says the Palestinian Authority does not meet UNESCO’s standards for membership.
The interim report by IMPACT-SE (The Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education) has been assessing P.A. curriculum since 1995.
The report says the “first principle” of Palestinian Authority textbooks is to deny Israel’s legitimacy and historic rights to the land. Referring to Israel as “the other,” the children are taught that the Galilee, the Negev and Nazareth belong to them.
Violence, “promoting holy war and death” against Jews is part and parcel of the P.A. curriculum at every level.
“Education for violence, holy war, and operations of terror are seen across a range of ages in PA books, which distribute violent messages in elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools. In the name of combating ‘occupation,’ which includes the 1948 borders, we see instances of promoting holy war and death,” the report stated.
