Are You Ready to Be Scared to Death?

Haunted HouseIt’s amazing how at Halloween many people delight in being scared. They enjoy dressing up as scary characters and visiting “haunted” houses. In fact, even adults are flocking to haunted houses. They are looking for an adrenaline rush where hearts are pounding, senses are on high alert, and hands reach out helplessly in the dark, wondering what’s lurking around the corner. Many people actually think it is fun to be scared to death!

Death itself is a scary thought. It is something that no one wants to think about, but every one will experience.
Are you ready to face death? What do you think will happen after you die? The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27, “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment”. After you die, dear friend, you will face God’s Judgment — where God will judge you for your sins and wrongdoings.
Take a quick test to see how you will do on Judgment Day… Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever used God’s name in vain? Have you ever looked at another person with lust? (God considers lust to be adultery in the heart.) If you are guilty of these then you need to realize that God sees you as a liar, a thief, a blasphemer, or an adulterer-at-heart. And because of these sins that you have committed, you are destined to be punished forever in a very scary place called Hell. Friend, you might not mind visiting a haunted house and being scared to death for an hour once a year. But to spend an eternity in hell — a place of constant torment, burning flames, and eternal darkness — is almost unthinkable. Can you see the danger that you are in?
What can you say in your defense at this Judgment? What can you say that will move God to let you off the hook?
Well, the good news is that God Himself has provided a way for your penalty, your sin debt, to be paid, and that is through his Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 says that “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
You broke God’s law and Jesus paid your penalty! So what do you have to do to take advantage of your free gift? The Bible commands you to repent (turn from sin) and place your faith in Jesus Christ alone to save you. Your good works won’t help you on Judgment Day. The only way to be free from the punishment of sin is to place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ right now.
If you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation and eternal life, please pray with me the following simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.
Remember, friend, Believe by faith. Share the faith. and Keep the faith!
