WATCH: Washington State Allows Churches to Build Tent Cities to Help Homeless

Washington state is allowing churches to build tent cities to help the homeless.

Seattle’s city council voted unanimously to allow religious organizations to host the tents without requiring a city permit.
There will be no limit on the number of the shelters citywide.
The approved ordinance means faith-based organizations can provide temporary shelter on their property, subject to basic health and safety rules.
There’s a limit of 100 people for each encampment. Groups won’t have to notify neighbors and there is no limit on how long an encampment can stay in one spot.
Seattle’s homeless shelters are already filled to capacity.
