Hillary Clinton ‘Surprised’ at Chelsea Clinton’s Decision to Join NBC
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday that she was “surprised” that her daughter, Chelsea, decided to take a reporting job with NBC News.
“I was a little surprised that she decided to go for it, but I’m very excited for her,” the secretary of state told MSNBC Friday.
On Monday, NBC announced that Chelsea Clinton will work as a correspondent on stories for its Making a Difference series that runs on the “NBC Nightly News” and “Rock Center With Brian Williams.” Clinton will also continue her graduate studies and work at her father’s foundation.
Chelsea’s decision to join the media prompted some in the media to note the irony since the former First Daughter is famous for avoiding the press.
Hillary Clinton also spoke up on weightier matters of state, telling NBC that although the U.S. government believes Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad must step down, there is “no appetite” for military intervention in Syria.
Asked by NBC’s Chuck Todd about the Republican presidential primary field, Clinton said she was “happy to be out politics.”
“I haven’t honestly been paying a lot of attention” to the GOP primary, she added, noting that she was barred from campaigning due to her position.
However, the secretary of state did take time to praise her boss.
